How to Prevent Phishing Attacks
What is a phishing attack?
A phishing attack is a type of criminal fraud in which scammers disguise themselves in order to obtain sensitive personal information such as usernames, passwords, funds, and identity credentials. Scammers often pose as official sources, operators, customer service representatives, or network administrators in order to deceive and gain the trust of the victim.
How scammers attack
- Through viruses: Scammers impersonate a website identical to MEXC and use computer viruses, malware, etc., to send a fake website address to users' computers or place it on search engines to trick users into logging in with their credentials. Scammers then steal user account passwords, transaction information, funds, and more. Please ensure you always use MEXC's official website: https://www.mexc.com.
- Through SMS: Scammers pose as official MEXC sources to send fraudulent text messages to users, claiming that the user has won a prize or that their account has been stolen, and prompt the user to log in to the website via a link they provide in the message and perform identity verification. However, the link is a fake website created by criminals to collect user information. If the user logs in to this website and performs any actions, their account, password, and other information will be compromised.
- By creating fake websites: Scammers first create a fake website, and then publish false event information on social media platforms. These events often promise significant profits to users. When users log in to the fake website, their account and password information will be obtained by the criminals.
- By impersonating official emails: Scammers send large numbers of fraudulent emails, luring users to log in to fake websites. These emails often use various tricks, such as claiming that the recipient has won a prize or urging them to upgrade their account, in order to convince them to click on a link in the email. The link leads to a login page that looks similar to the MEXC website. Once users enter their account, password, and other information on this designated login interface, their information will be captured by the scammer.
- By sharing links on social media: Scammers spread phishing website links through social communities to trick users into logging in to fake websites.
